MEETING HUMAN NEEDS IN THE NAME OF CHRIST
Coachella Valley Rescue Mission
Serving the “least, the last, the lost”, the shelter is one of two in the county. The CVRM near Indio has operated the cold-weather shelter for the county for several years. Open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., they offer a hot meal and showers in a facility that can accommodate up to 200 people. A couple of years ago, between 45 and 65 people were staying at the armory each night. Last year that number jumped to more than 70. http://www.cvrm.org/

Meals on Wheels at Joslyn Senior Center
The Joslyn Senior Center's Meals on Wheels program delivers prepared meals to seniors over age 60 who are unable to cook for themselves, delivering an average of 76 meals per day, 19,000 meals annually. Service areas include Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and Sun City. Social workers meet with each senior to determine if they need assistance in other areas and many times the volunteer delivering the meals is the only personal contact for the senior that day. The cost per meal is $4.25; however, inability to pay the full amount will not stop any senior from receiving meals. Grants and donations help cover the cost for those who cannot afford to pay. http://www.joslyncenter.org/
